Cleaning fireplace glass without damaging the seals

A bottle of Vitcas cleaner for fireplace glass

Clean the fireplace glass only after the appliance has completely cooled down. Before using the cleaner, check if the glass has a special coating and which methods are allowed by its manufacturer. Protecting seals and painted elements is part of the cleaning process, not an additional step performed only after the cleaner is spilled.

Prepare the glass and its surroundings

Inspect the glass, fittings, and cord around the door. A cracked pane or loose component requires assessment before further use. Then prepare a soft cloth for wiping and protect adjacent parts from accidental contamination by the product.

Vitcas for cleaning fireplace glass is a specific product for removing appropriate deposits. Its instructions provide for working on a cold surface. Before use, it is additionally necessary to confirm compatibility with the given glass, especially if it is coated.

Cleaning in several steps

  1. Apply a small amount of the preparation using the method given in its instructions, avoiding cords and adjacent elements.
  2. Leave the agent for the indicated duration; do not increase it arbitrarily for tougher deposits.
  3. Wipe the surface with a material approved for the given glass.
  4. Remove residues according to the label and check the surroundings before the next ignition.

Do not scrape the glass with a metal tool and do not use random abrasive powders. Stronger pressure or a more aggressive preparation does not replace compliance with the glass coating. If the instructions allow repeating the cleaning, perform it instead of an improvised method.

Deposit returning quickly? Also check the burning

Recurring dirt may be related to damp fuel, air supply settings, or other operating conditions of the appliance. Compare the fuel and the way of burning with the manual. Also check the door sealing cord: a damaged gasket can change the air supply conditions.

Cleaning alone does not explain smoke marks in the room or mounting defects. Such symptoms require inspection, even if the glass has been cleaned. Regular inspections help notice changes in the condition of the appliance before further use.
